About Faith & Jemma!

Faith & Jemma in Vancouver, Canada, one foggy Christmas

Jemma is a Very Special Dalmatian who was rescued by the SPCA in Richmond, BC Jemma!Canada, and then adopted by Faith many years ago. Jemma was found 'living on the streets' in the Vancouver area, and she has street sense and the scars to prove it!

Jemma very quickly made it known that she had many gifts. It was Jemma who taught Faith about the wonderful benefit of having a therapy dog as a partner in nursing practice. After the first couple of nursing visits with Jemma riding along, Faith quickly realized that even 'tough' patients tended to 'open up', talk more about themselves, and appeared more relaxed when Jemma was visiting. So Jemma became Faith's companion and colleague visiting hospice and geriatric patients in the community, and Faith began to learn more about the utilization of therapy animals in healthcare.

When Jemma retired from her 'nursing career' she turned to 'writing', and became known as The Advice Dalmatian, answering mail from pets and their people, and offering her own brand of canine common sense. Jemma has recently collaborated with Faith on a book called Memoirs of the Advice Dalmatian, soon to be released by Fox Song Books.
