This is the text for the course: Dillon's Nursing Health Assessment A Critical Thinking Case Study Approach, 2nd Edition. The picture following is of the new edition for the text. Iif you click on the image, it will take you to the publisher's site with links to the interactive study area:

In addition to the above text, you will also be required to purchase the accompanying Student Applications workbook. As well, an interactive CD-ROM is required (available in the TWU Bookstore) that allows you to see a physical exam being done by a nurse practitioner, and the charting associated with the exam. This is helpful, because you can see parts of the exam over and over again--as often as necessary for you to feel confident about performing the skills.

The only other specifically required text for the course is Diseases and Disorders A Nursing Therapeutics Manual. Because you have not had any pathophysiology, beyond your Anatomy courses, this text will help you understand which assessments are necessary to perform on patients with specific diseases, and will help you to sort out what nursing diagnoses are necessary to patients with specific diseases. You will also use this book for N222, Pharmacology. This book is available in PDA version or in hardcopy. If you decide to purchase the PDA version, be sure to do this through Skyscape's TWU RN site to get your 25% discount. Click on the image to get more information about this text:

As this course has a clinical component and a laboratory component, there are some required supplies as well as the above texts. You will need a good quality stethoscope with a bell and diaphragm (available through the TWU bookstore), and a nursing uniform and shoes (see your Nursing Student Handbook for details about uniform requirements).

Finally, in addition to the above mentioned required texts and materials, a nursing encyclopedia or dictionary, such as Tabor's, and a nursing drug handbook, is highly recommended. You will use both of these all through your coursework in nursing.
